November and December go by every year like a blur. With my birthday, my partner's birthday, and his sister's all within three days of each other, the time raced by quickly and unreasonably, probably splashing mud on your shoes. Time is such a rascal. Here are some of the things i've been really loving these past few months.
Humans of New York- I’ve always been interested in the responses Brandon seems to get out of people (obviously, so are many others- the Facebook page has over 16 million likes), but have been particularly drawn to his Syrian Americans series. I wouldn’t consider myself a huge Facebook contributor, more out of laziness than anything else, but his episodic photo stories on families emigrating from Syria to America sort of has me hounding the HONY page like an info-thirsty banshee. Maybe it hits home for me because in Australia we seem to have a seriously hard time welcoming and re-homing immigrants (you can look to Christmas Island Immigration Detention Centre and other centres like it to understand what i mean), and we don't get to see nearly as many successful emigration stories.

Frankie magazine’s Babysitters Club edit. This is a very exciting find, and was recommended to me through my friend Alannah who also spent many afternoons engrossed in Ann M. Martin's world of 13 year old babysitters. They all had conveniently diverse looks and talents, because in every tween fiction series there has to be an artist, a tomboy, a shy-girl, a greenie, the 'smart one', and a fashionista. I'm sure it's written down somewhere. Alannah is a Claudia. I'm a Dawn with notes of Jessi. Who are you?
Myself, practically weeping.
Vintage Brooches. Nothing rounds off a vintage outfit better than a brooch (or a headscarf). I can't pick a favourite in this collection. Okay, if i had to pick a favourite it'd probably be the long thin one in between my pointer and ring finger, for sentimental reasons. Vintage brooches are a seriously untapped source and can be found anywhere from $3-$10 at a lot of antique stores and op shops. So hit up your local Vinnies or Salvos, and make sure to pay special attention to any jewellery stands around/behind the till.
This lemon dress- I work at a Princess Highway store and for summer the brand is manufacturing a variety of fruit-printed things. I have to be honest- the shape reminds me of something i might have worn to a 4th birthday once. A lot of Princess Highway dresses create this shape on me because i'm tall. It's not the most 'sophisticated' fitting thing i own, in other words. But, i love it. LEMONS.

Harper Lee's Go Set a Watchman. Very mixed reviews on this book and understandably so, but i am really enjoying it so far. I'll keep you posted.
Sewing
I sewed this outfit for a beautiful friend of mine who just moved to LA. It took me a lot of patience and i acquired some new sewing skills, but it is finally finished and it (mostly) fits her actual woman body!
Experiences
In November we went camping! Every year around November we pack our kits for the Northern Rivers. It's always hosted by mum and dad and attended by all kinds of friends- this year featured cove swimming, canoeing, fishing, and floating down the river with inflatables. It was so so nice.

My sweet friend Chantelle's graduation from a psychology/criminology double degree. So proud of her for sticking it out and keepin' it graceful for four years.
I went to my staff xmas party on Caxton St. last Saturday night and such a good time was had by everyone involved, especially the colourful ladies below.

Looking forward to
Ballet tickets aren't exactly cheap, so when Dan surprised me with tickets on my birthday in early November i was stoked. I've loved ballet for so many years but have never been to see a professional ballet company perform, so needless to say i'll be excited by the time the 22nd of Feb rolls around.
